OEM-focused Automotive USA 2024 in Detroit energized partnerships and collaboration
Detroit, Mich., October 28, 2024 – In October, Taiwan Excellence introduced 10 leading Taiwanese brands to attendees of Automotive USA 2024 in Detroit. This year’s theme of “Accelerating Progress: Forging the New Automotive Era through Technology and Partnerships” drew interest and discussion with automotive leaders and potential partners.
The three-day event began with a VIP Executive Forum with presentations by leaders of five of 10 award-winning Taiwanese brands, followed by informal roundtable discussions with automotive executives from notable OEMs and suppliers.
Presenters included Matt Ke, president of AUO America; Franco Lai, general manager of the automotive business unit at Pegatron; Anthony Le, vice president of marketing at Macronix America; Sebastien Jean, chief technology officer of Phison; and Paul Wu, CEO of Carota.
“We welcomed this opportunity to advance the technological cooperation between the U.S. and Taiwan in the transformation of the automotive sector,” said Minya Lin, director of the Economic Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Chicago, who delivered opening remarks at the Executive Forum. “This year marks Taiwan Excellence’s first participation in this event. We’re excited to present Taiwanese cutting-edge automotive solutions, including HMI (Human-Machine Interface), automotive memory storage, and OTA (Over-the-Air) technology to drive innovation in the automotive industry.”
The following two days drew attendees to the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion, face-to-face meetups, and special presentations by industry leaders and specialists in wide-ranging topics from cutting-edge technology to manufacturing and improved customer experience.
During the event, executives Ke and Le participated in the Taiwan Excellence-sponsored panel discussion, titled “AI-Powered Driver Assistance: Enabling Safer Roads for Everyone.” They also addressed compelling questions about the cybersecurity of vehicle information “in the cloud,” privacy and the possibility of future capabilities of AI detecting crimes in and around vehicles, and more.
In addition to the five brands presented at the Executive Forum, the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion featured CUB Elecparts Inc., manufacturer of electrical and electronic parts to OEM and aftermarket; Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co., Ltd, an electric vehicle (EV) joint venture; Delta, a global provider of power and thermal management solutions; oToBrite, a leading provider of vision-AI, advanced drive assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving solutions; and Taiwan Carbon Materials Corp., specializing in creating and manufacturing heat dissipation solutions tailored for the AI and 5G industries.
Speaking on behalf of Taiwan Excellence gold award winner AUO America, headquartered in Farmington, Mich. since 2018, Ke said, “This was a great event as we spoke with a majority of key players, had good discussions about future technology and how we can participate. It was very beneficial, and we learned a lot.”
Along with viewing each brand’s product displays and information in the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion, attendees received an opportunity to take an interactive 3-D virtual tour of the exhibit, created by Sagenverse, an Ann Arbor-based company. The virtual tour is accessible for public viewing and includes information, photos and videos about Taiwan Excellence and this year’s 10 leading brands with more updates to come.
